Thumbs up

Got a blue soft top on my UK S2K. Is a standard option on the Hondas over here. Looks great with the Nurburgring blue!!! Speaking of which, I have a bit of a leak on the seal/tubeing on the soft top (over the drivers window). Seems to fill up with water whilst parked and spill out all down my arm when I pull away (god gamn country!!). Any ideas how to solve this problem?!?

lets see some pics of that sexy beast!

as far as your leak goes, your best bet is to try shin-etsu grease. its a honda made product for rubber seals/trim. for some reviews of it - stop by the wash and wax forum and look around or if you search some wash and wax articles should pop up.

as rubber ages, it tends to shrink and become more brittle. shin-etsu grease restores moisture to the rubber around the soft top, as well as your weather strips on the doors, trunk, and hood. after applied to my S - i noticed a big difference, especially after about a weeks time. my doors closed better, with more of a soft sound to them than the metallic "thunk" of a door you'd find from Ford. so once you use the stuff, you should see a difference within a day, let alone a week. this has solved the problem of leaks for many people, and its a product u can buy at any honda dealer.

thats step one. step two is prevention of the problem occuring again. treating your seals every 6-8 months should help you avoid the problem in the future. also - if you take your car to certain car washes (often referred to as swirl-o-matics by use wash n wax wackos), their high powered air blowers aren't good for our tops (and their brushes not good for our paint).

g/l with this and let me know how the Shin-Etsu grease works for you!
heres a link to the hardtopguy website showing the mentioned product so you know what you're looking for: http://hardtopguy.com/store/product.php?pr...5&cat=54&page=1

This is my 3rd top on my S. First 2 ripped and were replaced under warranty. I requested a blue one for the 3rd top and they did it without hesitation!

I was looking at dealer pricing for the soft tops and the blue top was actually cheaper on Honda, go figure!
Hey that looks good . My sister graduated from hendrix last spring.

Muttgrunt, thanks for that, you're a star. Luckily enough, I've got to go to Honda tomorrow and I'll see if I can pick some up. Will let you know how it goes. Will try and get some pictures on here. Am new to all this forum business.

I never used an automatic/hand car was place on it for fear they ruin the top. I would literally cry if that happened!!!!!

Looks like I'm getting the Blue Top next week as part of a warranty repair for the dreaded cut over the passenger side. The local District Service Manager is excited to see it on the Laguna.

Just got home from picking up the S with a new Blue Top. The dealer sent it out to a local top place that had it done in 4.5 hours (how can that be?). Only issue noted since picking it up is they forgot to tighten the spare and it rattled coming home (done) and looks like I'll have to figure out how to plug in the airbag senser as the light is now on. I guess it's under the front seat and is a minor issue to fix.
