blown motor, what can i change
#11
A large part of why i want to do the trouble shooting myself is to learn more about the car. I love working on mechanical thigns. I think getting a helm's manual will be my first thing i do today. luckily i have another car and a bike to ride for a month or two while i work on it.
As far as what i was looking for I would be looking for loose or messed up rod bearings, a crank that isn't functioning properly, a wallered out piston and sleeve, or valves that are bent or messed up.

the chances of something wrong with your crank is unlikely. the crank on this car is a forged beast that's extremely hard to damage.
check your valves, valve retainers, pistons, sleeves, etc.

Yeah but if the motor is F)@*# wouldn't i be better off to put a bore and stroke kit on it and jump it up to a 2.4-2.5, i know the toda kit only does stroke and wouldn't help, but if i have to bore it out and it comes wit pistons crank rods and othe parts that might be as cheap as oem parts to replace the motor.

no lights or anything of that kind, dash seems fine and the lights light up when you start the car so they are not just out.
I agree ... time for a new automotive technitian.

So i took my car somewhere else, but now it won't start, b/c when i went to start it to diagnose it the motor ceased. so now my motor is a big solid chunk of metal, they are taking it apart to see what parts are re-usable, so does anyone know what a used s2k motor goes for, also can i put a 2.2 motor in the car or will i need other parts. also any thoughts on the big bore kit, i think 1000.00 to sleeve it sounds pretty high.
