Blown engine--- BAD NEWS
I have bent some valves do to a bad over rev. I have lost compression in 2 cylinders. I dont know how much it will cost to get it fixed. But I was wondering what options I have. I was looking at aj-racing and saw they have a J's racing SPL F20c 2.0L. I was wondering what that engine is all about. I was thinking if im just gonna do a staright engine sway I would probably do an f22c. Would the f22c see the same benifits with an 01 tranny or would it hurt me? I know I'm missing alot, I dont know if I should rebuild or what. Basically I just want to know what my options are and what would you do in my situation. Would an nissan sr20 swap work (hehe)? I'm only 18 and will have to save for a few months for this and money is going to be holding back, I figure I want to spend around 5-6g's at the most and hoping I can do something around the $3k range. What would you do?

damn...sorry to hear.
I actually over-revved my car also 2 days ago. I bought my car to Evolution autosport earlier today to have them check it out and adjust my valves. I think i lucked out this time. Everything looked good.

An '04 tranny mated to a 2.0 L, 9000 rpm engine would be a benefit. With the reduced redline of the 2.2 L, it would be like you driving a 2.0 L but never being able to use the last 1000 rpm. Of course, if you can get the 2.2 L to rev up to 9 grand with your existing ECU, you could say to heck with it and rev it up to 9 grand anyway and hope the higher piston speeds don't fry something. Personally, I think putting a 2.2 L into an AP1 has too many downsides to it.
Determine what the exact damage is and get an estimate of the repair. It may not be as much as buying a whole used engine. You won't know till you have it checked out. You can scope each cylinder for piston condition. If you only have bent valves and not piston damage, you might get away lucky.

The following is my opinion only. Others may differ.

bent some valves?
welcome to the club. why do you think i have a CEL in my avatar? hah.
i bent 10 valves, cracked over 15 retainers, melted exhaust guides, , broke the valve locks, and more..
once i got the cel for misfire it was all downhill from here. i thought about rebuilding stronger, etc. probably shoulda, but just did the OEM specs.
all in all it was about a little over $2000 in parts and labor. but hey you said you want to save money then go for it.
the S is my only car, and being outta a car for a month was rough. so good luck with your decesion.
