Black and Blue: the torture continues!

A typical interchange with Honda sales in this country. It seems to me that the majority of dealings leave the buyer with a negative impression. I am sorry to say that you will likely find business with Honda service no better.

Thanks to BrotherRex I am down to 1k over invoice plus destination. Maybe not the best deal to come along...but a far cry from MSRP, which is what I had two days ago.

Maybe this month the dealers think they can charge MSRP, but in the next couple I bet they will be back down. Is it really worth the few extra grand to get it a couple months earlier?
You may want to head over to the Mid-Atlantic forum to get some locals advise on good dealers. AndyP, who posts in that forum, is a saleman in MD and was recently selling new '03s for $29,795. He may not be able to get '04s for that price, but it's a good reference point.

My dealer wanted $2500.00 over MSRP but after 3 trips and the offer of cash I got them down to $29,900.00 with no paperwork fees and I made them give me the showroom poster of the S. This was in the middle of July. You should easily be able to negotiate a better deal now that winter is coming.

I agree with the others on the board -- I think you're being hosed.
Just for info, this week's AutoWeek has an ad for two new S2000s at a Pennsylvania dealership, Moon Honda. One is silver w/red interior; the other is Suzuka Blue. The dealer's asking $30,688. Thought you might want to know.
The # listed in the ad is 412 269-1234. They also list a web address, www.moonhonda. com.
(And, in anticipation of yr q: I have no affiliation with the dealership whatsoever. Just saw the ad and thought the price seemed pretty good for '03s, if you like those colors.)

In '00 it was not like you could buy a '99 for cheap. Plus it was a whole new car with all the hype behind it. Plus the economy was MUCH better in '00.
Now the changes for '04 are VERY VERY minor and '03 are still available. While I agree that invoice may be a stretch, MSRP is too much to pay. Add to that the notion that this dealer is pushing him to buy his accessories from them adds to my feeling that this deal is Toss into the mix the fact that the economy is still slow, and that leaves PLENTY of room to negotiate.
