Default Beware!! When doing the spark plug recall.

I took my car in for the spark plug recall. That is all. Well when I received it. The plug recall was done but I noticed that my tires had a heavy layer of tire wet. Well guess what. THEY WASHED MY CAR!!! OMG. It had some ugly, swirl marks that were more like scratches. I asked if they washed all cars. He said well we try. I then asked with what. He said with soap and get this. WITH A BRUSH!! I said with a what. Then he sugar coated it saying that the brush was a very soft brush. Very soft. softer than a sponge. Bull sh#t. And I have a black car. The worst for showing small marks. Dunno what to do yet. But when taking your car in, Say up front, " Don't wash my car", if you're as particular as I am about washing it. They'll screw it up. I promise you. I'm kicking myself for not thinking about that.

I forgot to tell them, and was pissed all day in class because I couldn't call them.
Come to find out they didn't even wash it, so I was excited, but pissed at the same time. Yaknow...

Texas Redliner,
It may be that they used dishwashing soap or something and stripped all the wax off...

I don't think so nobody. It still feels like the wax is still on there. I use a lamb's wool mitt and know I didn't put those marks on there. I'm feeling better already knowing I can use the zaino and remove the swirls and scratches. I'm gonna give that a try.

My dealer is used to taking care of some pretty particular s2000 owners. They asked me if I wanted the car washed. Even though they had some kind of high tech soft cloth wash, I declined.

Nice having the option though!

During my spark plug TSB, I FOLLOWED my car as it was driven into the service area, stood next to my car as the work was completed, assuring that anti-sieze was used on the plug threads and that the plugs were torqued to 18 ft. lbs. and then I FOLLOWED my car as it was driven back to the service entrance.

bruce jarrard. Nice to have that luxury. I had to go to work. But one has to be as assertive as you. Good job.

I have a standing order at my dealership not to wash my S. They've had a very clear understanding since day one

This is overkill, but I write w/ shoe polish on the top of the windshield "DO NOT WASH", they laugh, but I don't have scratched paint! (Black car, so I'm really paranoid).

My car had one of four plugs tightened to 18lbs. The other three were so loose that they barely registered (almost finger tightened). There was no VIN plate mark on the firewall and I had to go back and ask for the stickers to put in the owners manual. The oil was changed at the same time and they used 5qts., instead of 5.5 - I still have not verified that it was 10W-30. It states a part number on the invoice, but not the weight. There were finger prints inside and on the drivers window, and they PRESSURE washed it (dried leak marks on both door windows, inside). The worst part is that I used to work there, bought it there, and still send business there. If I could avoid service departments, in general, I would. I've been in the business for 7 years and have almost zero faith in most techs. If you ever find a great one, make sure he gets the car and check the invoice for his/her name. Tell 'em thanks and slide 'em a few bucks. Unfortunately that seems to be the only way to get consistant, high quality, service these days. Every store seems to have one or two, but they're usually locked into the difficult jobs that pay more and don't waste time on routine maintenance.

I'm really beginning to think that AHM should have brought this out as an Acura.
