Which is better? 4.57 or 4.77 final drive gears?
I heard 4.77 is faster than 4.57, but then I hear about so many people who have 4.57 -So which is better/faster? Which one lasts longer?

4.77>4.57>4.44>4.10 as far as quicker accelerating (aka faster)
Most people get the 4.57s because they are a good amount faster then stock but not overly aggressive like the 4.77s are sometimes considered.
Plus if your going for a supercharger in the future, the 4.57s seem to be a nice balance and not overkill or underkill.

4.57R's (at the left - vs OEM) may be stronger too.
Don't assume that 4.77's are even stronger, the ratio doesn't indicate by default the teeth are thicker.
IMO the 4.57 & Comptech diff is pretty a strong combination.

Depends on what speed you're accelerating from/to. The higher numerical ratios will feel faster, but might necessitate an extra time-sapping shift to get to a certain speed.
I like the 4.57R (though I'm still stock).

I think the 4.44 might be better than the 4.57? Every shop I talked to about installing the final gear complained that the 4.57 doesn't fit well. Don't know if the "fit" has anything to do with "life", but it doesn't make me feel too good when parts like that don't fit well.

4.44s arn't even worth it, you won't even feel a difference.
If your afraid of the 57s just stick to stock then because the 44s arn't worth the money.

I don't get how the 4.44's aren't worth the money?
You can get them for $200 cheaper than the 4.57's and they are definitely different from a stock 4.1
Maybe you shouldn't believe the hype on forums about the 4.57's being the best thing since sliced bread.
Raceline (popular so cal final gear installer) + 2 certified honda techs who've done many S2000 final gear installs have all told me that certain final gears don't line up very well (the 4.57 is one of them).
I'm not afraid of the 4.57 (I actually have it in my AP2), I just was giving my experience with my gear and my install. I know what I'm talking about.

anyways back to the topic.. which is better? thats solely up to you. 4.77's will accelerate faster than 4.57's. 4.57's give ~10% increase in torque in your powerband, while 4.77's will give around ~15% increase in torque in your powerband. which is faster? 4.77's. the downside is that your rpms will be increased 600-700RPM over what you would regularly be at with the stock 4.10's.
everyone that doesnt have 4.77's says they are too much and to get the 4.57's, when they dont even own 4.57's either. personally.. a couple hundred rpm difference between the 4.57's and 4.77's.... does it really matter that much to you? how fast do you climb through 300RPM? exactly, fractions of a second.
this is with my tire setup in rear .. tire diameter of about 25"
max MPH in 4.10's / 4.57's / 4.77's per gear for AP1
1st: 43 mph / 38 mph / 37 mph
2nd: 66 mph / 59 mph / 57 mph
3rd: 91 mph / 81 mph / 78 mph
4th: 116 mph / 104 mph / 100 mph
5th: 139 mph / 125 mph / 119 mph
6th: 166 mph / 149 mph / 143 mph
difference between 4.57s and 4.77's in 1st gear? 1mph.. 2nd gear? 2mph.. 3rd gear? 3mph.. 4th gear? 4mph.. 5th and 6th gear? 6mph.. i fail to see how the 4.77's suddenly become SO aggressive compared to the 4.57's when they are nearly the same, with 4.77's still being quicker. the decision is up to you and what you want out of your car and what you use it for. just make sure you know the facts before you make a decision and not the word of someone just relaying 'bandwagonish' information through the board.
