Default Best Sounding Intake?

Hey guys.. just bought a S2000... and i m guessing this is a topic that probably has already been covered.. (if so .. please show me the thread). I searched and couldnt come up with a definite answer.

Now intakes for the S2000 dont really show HP gains.. so the only other function for them for me.. would be looks and sound.

Which intake is the loudest? .. other than the AEM and Injen.. which are out of the question.

I was considering the Comptech.. but from what ive heard its not much louder than stock.

Also, i dont want to spend crazy money like a Mugen. thanks

Its all in the eye of the beholder. Some love the AEM sound others think it sounds like a vacume cleaner. find people in your area with the intakes and listen to em.

I dont really feel like dealing with the AEM or Injen...
I know its a very rare chance of sucking water up.. but this car is going to be a daily driver.. and i dont feel like dealing with the result.

Comptech's shows some gains (~5 HP & 5 lb/ft torque) at different points throughout the RPM range (torque and HP) and the sound is pretty mean ... it's a pain to get the lid to sit right though (it has a tendency to rub and vibrate) ... I used modified small clear silicone stick-on 'bumpers' to dampen some of the lid flap. Works well.
Their site has their dyno results.

My butt dyno noticed the largest gain leading up to and through the 3-4 upshift. I can wiggle the back-end if I get too cheeky with the shift (stock SO2s).

Others swear by the AEM V2. I'm just not a big fan of intakes that increase the risk of water ingestion.

The comptech looks great.. but since im not really looking for power gains.. as much as sound and from what ive heard, its just "slightly" louder than stock.

Alot of people talk about the PMR intake. what sites offer this? and any opinion on it.

You can get the Comptech via Rick's site and save a few bones:

It's not slightly loader than stock ... it's noticable - and especially in tandem with their exhaust...

well my buddy has an AEM .. how do you think it compares to that .. sound wise?

I bought an HKS exhaust.. not installed yet if that effects the sound at all.
