Best S2000 to own
#11
hondas are as reiable as they come most of the engines are bullet proof. The s2000 is pretty maintance free other than tires and maybe some burning oil. I would get a later model for sure for the extra comfort but like others have said the ap1 will do just.

I daily my '01 AP1. It's not annoying or difficult to drive at all, rain or shine.
For the ones that say an AP1 is a hand full in the rain, you've never driven an AP1 in the rain. And if you have, you suck at driving or were driving on really bald tires. Even on bald tires it's okay as long as you're not accelerating past 4000rpm while turning.
OP: I would drive an AP1 & AP2 and see which one you like better. The "snap oversteer" on AP1's isn't as drastic as some of the members here exaggerate it to be.

Having daily driven a S13 240 w/ 400WHP in the pacific northwest, I can tell you my 01 S2K is nothing. The back end will step out a bit if you push it in the rain, but it steps back no problem, you just have to know how to react. I have to TRY and drift this car, even in the rain, even in sharp corners. I dont really know what you guys are talking about.
If money wasnt an issue, I would get an 04-05, pre-fly by wire AP2. The 9K motor definately needs to be wound up to get any power, I can imagine the 2.2 is better for daily driving.

02-03 Ap1. These are the best "raw" versions of the S2000 and have a very classic feel to them and drive aggressive. For purists, really.
If I bought another to go with the AP1 I own it would be an 09 Cr in GPW if I could ever find one.

If anything dealer would want over MSRP for it at this point.
