You do NOT get best mpg at a given speed by being in a gear that requires the smallest least throttle opening.
That is not what I said at all. Way to twist words around. How and why did everyone else got it but you?

You will get better mpg in a taller gear with a wider throttle opening.
This statement does not make any sense. The wider the throttle opening, the more fuel the injectors will provide and increase both rpm's and speed. Unless for you WOT means no gas.

To a point, of course, you're not going to want to be lugging the engine at 1200rpm in 6th...
Really? No $h!+
I was responding and agreeing to a post that clearly states that our cars don't like cruising below 2.5k rpm's. I even posted that I like and preffer 3k rpm's for cruising.

pjcc/zdan, i think you guys misunderstand each other.

I'm sure Zdan means wide throttle opening BEFORE it htis open loop tuning. as long as its constantly adjusting AF ratio, lower RPM is better.

PJCC, I'm sure you're talking about WOT -> open loop->AF ratio drops, more gas, runs rich.

3rd to 4th - 40 mph (64 km/h)

So WOT up to 15mph then shift to 2nd, WOT to 25 then shift to 3rd...I think some of the hypermilers drive that way.

Best fuel mileage is achieved at 0 rpm. Push it wherever you go.
Seriously, an S2000? If yer worried about gas, maybe you shoulda bought a Honda Fit.
These questions are getting dumber and dumberer, especially the stupid arguments that always results.

I only have a little over 9k miles in my "S" but if I'm on level ground and I'm not in a hurry(like sight seeing) I set the cruise at 40 in 6th. I get 26.9 mpg on average(over 9k miles) we went on a 320 mile drive this last Saturday and got 28.7 mpg but did not drive over 50 mph for about half of the drive. The pic's will show you why. My '06 drives very good at 2300-2500 rpm's as long as I'm not on any steep hills, if I'm on the freeway and going 75-80 mph my mileage drops to 24.8 mpg.

Maybe so, but since when does writing something means something else?

I see mpg's as a challenge, not a worry or a necessity.

I hate comments like this. He didn't want a fit, he wanted an S2000.

Nothing wrong with trying to have fun with a sports car and trying to get better MPG...

Its not like you drive it crazy ALL the time. This car is my daily so its not as though I can VTACHHHHH in traffic. Might as well go for some gas mileage.
