Fluky15, British Petroleum (BP) knows nothing about plugging holes, lol.

In our region we mostly have 91 octane, I could move up to 94 if I pay a bit more for it, but there is nothing between 91 and 94, so it is either 91 or 94. I believe it is all ethanol enhanced (about 10 percent). Anyone find better performance by going over 91 octane ?.

I do remember the big oil spill. Im personally stuck on 91 for Ontario. The consistency of 94 is not there, you never know if it could be good or bad 94. My good buddy switched to 91 just like me, he found 94 was too up and down as well. Petro Canada 91 without fail for me.
Amazing you'd buy their gas since they had the sulfur issue years ago. Nothing Canadian about their gas either.

Im 22 so i may have missed that? How long ago? Shell premium up here has no ethanol so that is the one i used to use, stricting shell, got the best gas mileage too.

I want to say 15 or so years ago they got their sulfur levels messed up and ruined a bunch of gas tanks. Was a big deal. Might be prior to internet now that I think about it - not sure much is online.

Avoid gas with 10% ethanol unless you use it quickly - evaporation and resultant condensation in the fuel lines can make starting more difficult, or so says the Society of Petro Enginners.
Where in America can you buy gas without corn in it?

Every station in town says 'may contain up to 10% corn' thankfully they husk it for you.
Shell used to have a reputation of not using ethanol in their fuels in our country , but then they were required to use it in certain regions that are affected by poor air quality. So we can't find fuel without ethanol anymore.

Rob, thanks for the reply on 94 octane, if there is no benefit I will stick with 91. 92 used to be a common premium fuel a few years back then it disappeared and we were left with 91 as premium and 94 as extra $.

I thought so too but their pumps have the same labels now. I know costco gas I always get very poor mpg.

Think of oc ratings as resistance to 'knock'. Knocking the motor results in ecu changes that reduce power by attempting to protect the motor. If the motor isn't knocking there is no gains with the high octane gas. I recall a few shell stations having 93 when I was a kid but I dont see much of that anymore.

I run non ethanol in my car. Locally there is only 90 available but I would rather use 90 non ethanol than 93 of the 10% mix. I have noticed better performance and mileage has gone from 15.2 to 20.6 city driving. .. pure-gas.org and you can find all stations that have been added to the national list

This source for non ethanol fuels may not be complete, but it has most of the stations in my state correct. Oh, and to answer the eternal fuel question, stick with tier one fuels and you will be fine.

I watched a video a while ago dyno testing gas using an STI. Shell was the best gas money can buy. Use that info as you see fit.
