Yep, I'd suggest sticking with stock because you'll regret having spent and arm and a leg for some crap that only makes your car loud and annoying to drive.

I think that Honda pretty much went all the way to the limit of daily driver comfort in terms of NVH (noise, vibration, harshness). I wouldn't fool with it... but that's me and you sound like me.
Have you ridden in a Mugen equiped car? I currently jave the headers and exhaust, and it dosent make the most power on the top end it make it where the car needs it in the low to mid range. The car sounds phenomal but is still quiet with no drone at all. Several other people (who own S's) have driven/ridden in my car and it is noticably faster than a stock S. The parts however are expensive.

All the money you spent on the Mugen parts could easily get you a supercharger that'll make it more than noticeably faster.

still cool though, (according to the testimonies) that it would make such a diffrence without F/I-ing.

Does your name relate to a prior ownership of a FIAT 124 Spyder? My first sports car was a 76 124 Spyder. It was a fun car for its time. Unfortunately, reliability wasn't FIAT's hallmark!

Intercooler--an item that cools the intake air before combustion so that it is denser, creating more horsepower.

Up to 10hp, a good air intake system seems to be the way to go. If you want any other significant hp increase, the best way is by supercharger. The S2K is SOOO efficient that replacing engine parts ain't gonna get you much.

I've heard only good things about the Mugen exhaust. VERY light weight, expensive, but not too loud. That being said, it's only supposed to give 3-5 horsepower.

A lot can be said about just enjoying your stock S2k

Intercooler, aftercooler.
If you want to be anal retentive, then each one has its specific form and function, but in general, both terms are used interchangeably and are universally understood. If you really want to get down to the "nitty gritty", Vortech calls it a "Chargecooler". Does it really matter what you call it in the context of this thread?

Yeah, my first car, when I was a 21 year old graduate student in 1975, was a 1969 124 Spider; it cost $900. A _great_driving car for the time, it was a POS mechanically. I loved it. It died, and I pined for a roadster for a few years until I bought a 1978 124 Spider in 1983. The '78 wasn't nearly as good a car as the '69, pollution control not having been handled well by FIAT, but it was still a lot of fun. It died a few years later, as child #3 was about to be born, and buying another 2-seater seemed silly. I compromised with a Celica convertible, which I drove from the day I drove it off the lot, brand new, in 1989, until April of this year, when my wife, who is a saint, suggested that, with the Toyota showing signs of wear (I had to hold it in 5th gear, since the synchronizer was dead, and many other problems), and even our baby being a high school sophomore, it was time for another roadster. I couldn't be happier--the S2000 has all the charm of the 124 Spider, so much more performance, and is reliable. What could be better?

AEM v2 intake, spoon/mugen/toda header, good light weight single exhaust and a tuned vafc.

on an 04, that should be good for 15+ hp.

I'd recommend you to go with a single pipe design headerback exhaust if you are looking for a decent power gain. We've tested the T1R 63mm headerback exhaust on an S2000 before, and there was a gain of 12whp. Lots of power is to be gained by switching over to single pipe from the factory dual design, for the factory dual design is not the most free flowing design, imo.
Please take a look at the dyno graph below. (comparsion from factory dual to T1R 63mm single headerback exhaust)
It is very affordable as well, very good bang for the buck, nice upgrade from stock, without having to bolt on a supercharger. PM me for more details.

also, thanks to our friernd SpeedStar, a sound clip is available.
