Default Battery Tender Question

Howdy, got a question...this is the first year I'm using the battery tender and I have a question...in the instructions it says to ground the negative clip to a good chasis ground, well I just merely hooked up the loop rings onto the battery terminals. Positive loop to pos. terminal and neg loop to neg terminal. Is this right? The battery tender appears to be working properly, I had the red light, now I have the green....thanks!!!

They tell you to hook the ground up to the chassis last (and disconnect first) instead of the battery (-) because the last connection you make or break could throw a spark and ignite the hydrogen gas batteries give off when recharging.

Your hookup is OK other than this safety precaution.
