Battery Recommendation?
I have an optima battery, yellow top group 51. My car dies on me in the morning every couple months or so. I have a sound system in the trunk, 2 amps, 2 subs. I had a cap hooked up to the system but was told I didn't need one and the cap sometimes would be the cause of the drainage. The battery died again this morning and I had it checked out and they said the volts were decent and the load was excellent.
I do put my top up when the car is not started but I don't think that could be the cause of my dead battery since i've been doing it for the last 5 days and it doesn't seem to be a problem.
A tech from a audio shop told me that Optima makes excellent batteries but the Group 51 just isn't one of the excellent batteries they make. SHould I get a new battery? and which one? Thanks in advance.

Hey Jason How is SD?
Do you ever run the audio with the engine off?
You may have killed the battery from too many full discharges. How many times have you had to have it jumped?
I recently replaced my battery, but I went with the Hawker battery that is carried by www.gofastlab.com in the s2ki marketplace. I do not think this battery is designed to meet your needs.
Since you don't care about the weight of the battery, get a high output battery from Kragen for ~$60. If it craps out, they will pro-rate the replacement.
my .02 p.
Could be deja vu, but didn't you start a similar thread a month or two ago?

Jumped 4 times? My advice stands, I would replace the battery with one of the large high capacity units fom Kragen. Don't buy a high priced low warrantied battery from an audio shop. I don't think it will last longer. Perhaps xviper will chime in and give you his opinion.
Q: Why not put the top up/down while the engine is still on?

Doesn't make sense. If it automatically goes up, and you aren't in the car, it isn't latched. Unless you want to keep replacing batteries, stop flossing

I wouldn't think that the battery would die out just because of the top going up once would it? How much power do you think that actually takes? I should go check. :

maybe u should check ur wiring to make sure all ur equipment is off when u turn them off, maybe some component keeps draining even though u have them switched "off"
