Default Bang for the buck

I am upgrading my S and would like to solicit some advice on the best performance efficiency. First, let me say that NOx is out. My Idea of driving is a long, winding, road; not a 13 second abuse of my baby!

I have already added a Comtech STB and Digrappa X-brace and am pleased with those. I have been talking to Vortech about their new SC. They are saying 355 HP at the crank. Any thoughts on how this would affect engine life?

The next upgrade will be the Simmons 3-piece wheels and Sumitomo tires. I am planning on replacing the OEM brake lines with Neuspeed lines this Fall, when I change out brake fluid.

I had ordered a Tanabe Super Hyper Medallion catback exhaust in March from Hyperperformance, and was to have gotten them at the beginning of this month. However, in that that long pipeline from Japan, it didn't make it me. supposedly, was diverted between the importer and Hyperperformance. I then ordered a Borla sytem last week from Autosupermarket.com that was "in stock". Today, I am getting the run around because it had to be back ordered. If I wasn't pretty sure that the OEM exhaust was restrictive, I'd give up! Any thoughts on exhausts and how much HP they add?

You want GOODRIGE brake line's. That vortech setup is pretty cool! I have the Comptech setup and I love it, it is very daily driverable. If thats a word?

Thanks. I never heard of Goodrige. Goodridge maybe? Neuspeed is advertised as teflon coated, steel braided.

I second the vote for Goodridge. Braided steel brake lines. Goodridge is the top name in the game IMO. The quality is excellent and I would stake my life on them...as a matter of fact I used to, because I ran them on my old Jeep for four wheeling.

If you are looking for bang for the buck, forget looking at exhausts. Best bang for the buck mods could be:

Apex-i VAFC 300unit+150harness+200dyno/~10hp=$65/hp
Comptech SC 4800unit+500install/~80hp=$66.25/hp
AEM CAI 275unit/~6hp=$45.3/hp

Results and prices may vary.

I recommend looking into a swap on the final gear ratio.

By comparison if the Comptech Exhaust makes the claimed 3hp you are paying $400/hp, but you sound pretty cool.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not interested in sounding fast, just being fast! I cancelled the Borla catback exhaust tonight, after Autosupermart.com reniged on their delivery date. I guess I will stick with the OEM exhaust for now.

A no cost modifications I did on my S, that has improve cooling and torque is opening the faux side vents and the side of the stock air box.

Vortech supercharger and Simmons wheels next!
