I pretty much keep mine down all the time. The thing that worries me more than the top is my red/black leather seats fading.
You should always clean and condition your leather to keep it good as new. Same goes for protecting the dash and other vinyl on the interior.

I have a plastic rear window. If I leave the top down, then it leaves a Z-shaped crease in the window. Therefore, the top is always up unless I am driving with it down.

Someone tossed their piece of used gum in my car one time, while I was in a restaurant.

If I could have seen the act, street justice would have been served.
It was a hater from Haiti that did that! LOL. Gotta watch out for people jealous of our cars. They either want 1, got beat by 1 or their girl wants to ride in 1!

top down is fine, you wont run into problems for having it down too much. Well besides having hotties swarming you, but thats a problem I can live with.

The area of the top behind the driver's side window (almost where your head is). Same on the passenger side. If you watch the top while it lowers, wherever the top rubs on the frame is where you'll get wear.
Thanks! Let me pay attention to those 2 parts later today.

Do people put some paddings in there?

Yes. I started to show wear in my 01, so I went to a local upholstery shop and they patched some vinyl (same material as our tops) in the wear spots using spray adhesive. Charged me $20. There are soft top patch kits available also.
