Thanks for the tip on the wallet in the back pocket. That might be the problem. I carry about $10,000 in cash in that wallet. Just in case a buy come down. Just kidding, but I have noticed I adjust the way I sit with the wallet in my pocket.

I've added a piece of foam under the center section of the leather seats. I used the real dense type designed to go under a sleeping bag and cut it into a 3" x ~6" strip. Then I gently pull the center section out and feed my strip under, while pulling on it from the opposite side. If you want lots of extra support, double it up. This gives me a lot more comfort, and does not push me out too far and lessen the effect of the side bolsters. It may take some trial and error to find the best place (vertically) for you, but I'm perfectly satisfied with the results.

I believe this is different for everyone. I remember when I first got my '00 S2000, the seats killed my back! I was used to driving my other car which was an Accord Coupe EXVL. . .very plush compared to the S2000, respectively!
However, over time, the seat became very comfortable. When my wife and I went up to Roanoke last year, we drove her Accord Sedan EXVL and my back wanted to crumble! I was so uncomfortable!!!
I'm used to the seat now, I guess! It's funny. . .from the '00 to the '02. . .there's a little difference with the seats (could be they were new) and my back hurt for a few days. . .now back to normal!
Normal. . .whatever that is!

Yes, the loaded wallet in the back pocket is a definite neurological no-no. Pain may also have something to do with driving position. I set the seat back as far as possible for the length of my legs and have the seat back in a pretty steep reclining position. I find that much more comfortable than an upright position.

maybe I just need to get used to it. Before I bought the s2k, I had an integra with 600 and 1000lbs springs... ie: no suspension. Even when I'd make trips between SF and LA, it never bothered me(besides the fact that I'd become deaf at the end of the trip, but that's a different story)
I do like S2R's Mugen seats, but I'd feel bad getting rid of the nice leather ones.

Seat adjustment is very important - those who have lower back pains as a result of sitting in the S2000 seat is normally because your seatback is not upright enough - you are sitting in too laid back of a position. Or depending on your build, you are not getting enough thigh support. There is no one single right position - you have to experiment to find it.

I think it takes a little bit of time to adjust to the seat. When I first got the S2K, my back hurt a little on long trips. Now, my back feels fine on long trips. It just takes some time to get used to the seat and adjusting it to your preferences.
