I need tires for my new Volks, anyone have S2000 experience with the Yoko AVS Sports? My friend drove a Modena with them and loved them, but that coulda just been the car. TIA

Good grip generally and definitely better in the rain than stock S02s. Considered more as wet tires, you can double-clutch and redline in gears with the AVS in heavy rain and not worry about it aquaplanning or fishtailing leaving you with little or no control. Lasts longer and cheaper in price as well, but don't expect to compete with stock S02s when running in dry winding road conditions.

I have AVS Sports on my 17" volks.... on dry, the 17" combo is a click faster around a huge sweeping exit ramp than my stock 16" combo...(that is my very scientific way of telling if the tires are better).

My original set of 17" RE730 were actually slower than the original 16" tire/wheel combo, so it is at least encouraging that the AVS Sports are better than both........but... SO-2's (way more expensive) would probably be even better, but..... $$$$$

Got 'em on the back (with stock wheels) and I like them better. I haven't noticed a loss of performance at all. Can't wait to get them on the front.

I think the S-02s are overrated.

I'm running AVS sports on my S4. Great handling tire in both dry and wet with a strong sidewall. I'm running 235/40 low profile and have hit many a pot hole with no bubbles or blowouts.

You may not notice the difference on the street but SO2's kick AVS butt at Auto-X.

here's my take -

Pros:
predictable in wet and dry conditions
great in wet conditions
last longer (so far)
predictable when breaking loose around corners - you are able to 'read' the car's handling capabilities a bit more.


Cons:
loss in performance
loss in grip/handling
chirps louder
breaks loose *much* quicker than the S02's.

Comments:
I have the AVS Sports on all four corners. They've been on for well over a month now, and with a few thousand miles already. They are great tires, but they are NOT S02's. I have yet to drive them around a track or even an autox, but if you know me personally, you know that I drive the car *hard* most of the time, and drifting is a hobby with the stock front swaybar.

First-hand (passenger) experience. I was instructing at a recent Auto-X class and rode along with an AVS-equipped S2K versus two other SO2-equipped. I could tell right away the traction was worse (and several pressures were tried).
