Average fuel consumption of your S2000. What is it your MPG?
#41
26.9 MPG averaged over the last 8 months.
Mix of highway and local streets. Only get over 30 when on long highway trips.
Pretty good for a car who's window sticker claimed 20 city and 26 highway!

Glad someone is doing another survey of MPG. Mine seems to be rather low. My suspicions are my driving style, but then I don't get a chance to ask many others (see about 2 S2k's a month here).
I get about 12mpg while driving a fairly normal stop and go route to work (17-20 if I take a 15mile bypass).
I never "launch" at any starts but usually let all gears go to at least 7k and cruise at 4.5 to 5. I often accelerate to 8k for various reasons. I don't run A/C often. In other words, I always know I'm in a roadster and typically drive accordingly.
I'm NOT complaining (in fact I can't tell you the last time I even looked at gas prices...what's the use, I'm going to pump it whatever) I'm just curious. As far as engine and mechanical items, everything is running fine, as are the new tires. Thanks for any thoughts.

Ralper,
See, that's what I thought. I like hearing the engine roar or others who look, as if to say, "shift already." I guess I may need to see if I can live with driving with how my Mom may drive...2-3.5k.
I'm just kidding, a bit....and what I meant by the roadster statement was that I didn't buy the car to drive like I'm in an Accord. When I get open road...or can take corners at speed, I love the opportunity, and usually take it. I never drive out of control...meaning I can stop on a dime...so I guess I do limit things somewhat.
My thoughts are along those lines...and somewhat, as I get asked at work, "why drive over the speed limit"....I always think first, I didn't buy an S2000 so I could I could masquerade as a KIA...I bought it because I like to do the things it does best...corner fast, accelerate in traffic, and do it with the top down..all while driving a car not seen too often (say, like the "stangs...BTW...I saw three of the exact same at a light the other day..).
Thanks again for the feedback!

Q. What is it your MPG?
A. I don't have a clue. I really don't care how much I'm getting. I either or I don't.
Q. Why do so many meticulously record this info?
Q. Has anyone done anything about getting lower gas mileage then others have reported?
Q. If your gas mileage drops, from the norm, do you do anything about it? Do you inform the dealer?
Q. Do you rebuild the carburetor, replace plugs, points, wires, and condenser,
Q. Do you perform a major or minor tune up?... .
Or is it the type A personality that must have complete control of everything?
Just wondering. Back in the day, it served a purpose. Nowadays, it's almost for not. The car runs well or it doesn't run at all. Unless of course you have FI. A different story altogether.

If you don't care about gas milage, like you say, then why post.
I think it is interesting to see the different MPGs. This also tells NewInSouthBend that there is probably something wrong with his car. I VTEC all the time with my supercharger and not much highway driving and I get 21 all the time. If any S-2000 without bigger injectors and major mods gets 12mpg there is someting wrong.
There isn't anything wrong with posting this.
