is Autozone performance brake pads good?
I figure that since brake pads at Autozone have life time warrany I should get it there. The performance pads is about the same price as OEM pads but I'm just wondering if its as good. thx for any info

Most pads I've seen in the past that were labeled "lifetime" were labeled that because they ate up your rotors. That's not a good pad; it just transfers the wear. The OEM pads are very good for the street. Unless you're tracking the car I'd stay with them.

I used to work as a Autozone store manager i can say those pads are some of the best they carry. That really doesnt say much since they are really not a good pad. They are known to squeak and produce quite a bit of brake dust and wont last you very long. The "lifetime" warranty means that if the pad wears evenly and doesnt wear down to the metal or the rivets then it can be swapped out for the same pair considering your name is in the computer or you have receipt of the purchase. To make a long story short id stick with the OEM pads.

I used the AutoZone lifetime pads on my '93 240SX and my wife's '96 Integra. The performance seemed the same and I didn't have any trouble with them. I was able to exchange them a couple of times for the free replacements. I put new pads on both cars before I sold them and was able to do so even though the pads were not worn down all the way. If you do this make sure that you keep the original box and put the receipt in it. I wouldn't count on them having you in the computer or on the guy being able to locate your record if you are in there. I'd give it a definite .
Also, the lifetime warranty thing is just a marketing decision. It doesn't indicate anything good or bad about the pads. They know that the lifetime replacement will lure people to purchase the pads because they envision saving $$$, but the vast majority of these people will not actually come back for replacements (because they sell the car, forget the pads have a lifetime replacement, forget where they bought the pads, lose the receipt, grind the pads to the rotors, etc.)
