Thanks. Page 56 of my 2004 manual has the same page - title "Remote Transmitter" but it makes no reference to the horn sounding if the door is opened without key or remote.

Have them send you a picture
tell them you want to see the condition of your car
if they refuse the car might be damaged it happened to me
they claimed they couldn’t deliver my car because it was stuck on the transport with broken hydraulics
you can always report it stolen it might light a fire under their aaaas
thats what I did and received my damaged car finally

I have heard that is a common cause of delay/inaction, but a second carrier company was dispatched out there last week to pickup the car and didn't mention anything visibly wrong. I do wish I asked them to take pictures, since that would show me the situation on the ground and whether I could get in there with a trailer myself.

It's definitely a fishy situation and I have low faith/trust in the original carrier company. They started out OK but things got suspicious and shady after they missed the first three estimated delivery dates and stopped communicating.

The broker has been in contact with the owner of the carrier company. I suspect they have some sort of leverage, such as a rating on a central dispatch board, a bond, or perhaps outstanding payment owed. Right now the broker is my only hope to get some action.

Wait, my car has a basic alarm? Never heard of this.

Going to have to lock doors with fob, then open door. Don't expect anything to happen. Resisting calling bs on this until see for myself.

I will be shocked if it alarms

My relative works in the car transport industry and things like mentioned above happen more often than not. Hopefully it is not the case with yours.

This test won't work 'cuz you can't open the door when it's locked as the handles are mechanically disconnected, you have to unlock it first which (as I understand how the system works ) will turn the alarm off. I just tried this from outside thru an open window and when seated in the alarmed car. Now I'm starting to doubt my own position on this topic. And I'm not willing to use a tanker bar to open the locked car.

I've read lots of horror stories over the last couple weeks and my take is that it happens all the time on many cars, even ones that show up on time with no apparent damage or red flags. The happy customers are the ones that have no idea what went on. It's like a hotdog, you don't want to know how it's made. Unfortunately I am seeing the inside of the sausage factory on my delivery and it has killed my appetite to ever buy a car remotely and ship again.

Today I got a call from the auto transporter with some details about how the keys were lost and lets just say it was a whole lot of information I wish I never knew about, since it raises many more concerns. Unfortunately these guys are clearly not smart or responsible. They will attempt to get a Honda dealer to make a new key and get things working, but I am not optimistic and I think there is less and less chance I get an operational car back in the same condition it was shipped. I really feel sad for the car.

Once all is said and done, I plan to share details about the companies involved and may release a video on my Youtube channel with 12K followers. These companies deserve a public outing after this mess. If I can save other car owners grief it will be some consolation.

I have accidentally triggered this on many cars over the years and now I can't remember how to explain the process. I feel like it was related to reaching through an open window then opening the door but now I am wondering.

Update -- so the transporter has been attempting to deliver the car yesterday and again today, but has been foiled by the immobilizer key and poor planning. Last week I told them as clearly as possible what they needed to do to get a key cut and programmed into the PCM. They waited until yesterday to get a key cut (using the VIN) but then discovered that it wouldn't start the car (no shit) so no delivery. Today they waited until the afternoon (on a Friday) to get a Honda tech to program the car. Hopefully Honda will get things straightened out and the car can be delivered late tonight or tomorrow. But geez, it's hard to watch and wait while these guys fumble the ball over and over.
