Auto-down feature died after battery died
My battery died (cuz the car was sitting in the garage for too long). After I jump started the car properly, the auto-down (and auto-up) feature no long works on my driver's side window?
Can anyone think of what happened there?
The jump start was done properly, i.e. positive connected first before the ground.
Thanks

That will ussually happen, i believe there is something in the manual about it however i believe it relearns the feature if you will after you put the window down and up a couple times. Im not positive about this but it will come back eventually.

you have to re-program the window, key on press down on the switch and hold it down for 5 secs.

Yes. You have observed a relatively common problem with the window (only on the drivers side, I believe) due to the auto down feature. Which I suspect contains one of the many, many microprocessors that increasingly complicate all newer cars. Chips are cheaper than switches.
Anyway, I digress. The solution should be easy. per a couple of above posts.
After off for a while. Turn the key on. With the door open (or closed) push and hold the down switch (or up switch if the window is down). HOLD the switch until the window hits its mechanical stop. The do the same to fully cycle the window to the other direction.
Hold the switch for a short while after the window hits the stops.
If desired repeat a close - open cycle once or twice more, holding the switch through the window travel and after it hits the stops, then release the switch.
The seems to reprogram the processor and the window should work OK after.
If there still is a problem, maybe try the next day or two.
My AP1 had odd window issues for the first several years. It hasn't had a problem for the last six years. Seem the car "healed thyself".
If you have continued problems, it may need more expert attention at a dealer.

Wow, thanks for posting this. My auto-down never worked since I bought the car, now it does! Just hold up on the switch for 5 seconds after it's all the way up, and the same thing on the way down, worked for me.
