ATTENTION MEMBERS! I'm new and have questions...
Yo my Yankee buddies! My name is Maleslut and I'm new here. Although I don't have an S2K yet, but looking to buy one within the next month. I've been reading about the car and lots of facts differ from one another. Quick question for ya, my Yankee buddies: on average, what kind of performance times of 0-60 and 1/4 can a pretty good driver achieve?
I've read Car and Driver, and they got 0-60 in 5.8 secs; on the other hand, Motortrend (which I think is from the same parent magazine) got 5.2 secs. Which one is more conceivable for an above average driver?
Well, regardless of the performance times, I'm going to get one anyway. But I'd like to know firm facts about it and not b.s. Thanks a lot for your inputs, my Yankee buddies!!!

It sounds you want a car that is fast from a standing still or at lights.. if so, then the s2000 is not for you no matter how much nitro you acquire. If I were you, I would search the web and research what VTEC is. After you gain a good understanding of VTEC you will understand what I mean.

Maleslut (love the name, btw... ), welcome to the forum and welcome (soon) to having an S2000.
I think you can reasonably expect anywhere from low 5's (at least in my car) to the the low 6's depending on how hard you launch it. When you do launch hard, make sure to get a little tire spin, so that your diff and drivetrain don't absorb all that energy.
Well, enjoy the car, it's a kick in the pants...!

Greg,
I'm glad you jumped into this thread because you have more experience with zero to sixty than I do. I was mainly repeating what I think I've learned vicariously from this board. My own zero to sixty times are no where near you or Sev or any of the other more experienced drivers on this board.
I didn't mean to be hard on maleslut. Certainly, I meant no dissrespect or criticism. It's just that the S2000 would not be my first choice if zero to sixty were the first question I was asking about the car. I do run with a '94 Viper and a '00 Prowler here in Sheridan. On the twisties, they can't keep up.
Best to you and have a great day.
Barry
