Default Armrest Pad Coming Off

I have a 2002 S2K and the black perforated armrest pad is coming off and looks disgusting. I talked to the dealer and they want $250 to fix it (I think they have to order the whole center console). Anyone have any suggestions on what to do to fix the problem? Are there any aftermarket parts that replace just the armrest pad? Thanks in advance.

are you talking about the vinyl cover in the center console? If so, I think a new one from http://www.ricks2k.com in leather is cheaper then that. It comes with instructions as well.

No, I think he means the "perforated armrest", attached as part of the center console.

Rick's sells the console cover that goes beneath it, which I have. You can order it in solid or perforated, but that isn't the issue.

The center console is sold as an all-in-one unit, unfortunately. Depending on the age of your car, check with HardTopGuy (a sponsor AND Honda dealership we love) and ask what he can do for you. Joe and Jeff are fantastic, and will at the very least get you a good price on a new center console.

Good Luck,
Hockey

Tell the dealer to do his job and perform TSB 03-012.

Too bad TSB are not recalls, or there would be a line at Honduh for all the TSBs out there.

Should be a warranty item if it is an '02, though.

If the car is still under warranty, it should be fixed as such.

The car is no longer under warranty because it has 45k miles on it. And the rear of the pad is not lifting up like the service bulletin. The leather/vinyl is peeling off in the front. I think this is due to it getting wet (oops, forgot to put the top up) and then shrinking. I can't believe that you can't get this part individually. I wonder if I could get it at a junk yard. Or maybe I will send an email to Hardtopguy. Thanks for the help guys.

center consoles appear for sale frequently. there's one on ebay now. you're talking <$100.

you can get one NEW for about $135 from www.hondaautomotiveparts.com. go to the "center console) section.
