AP2 VTEC RPM Kick Point
I am all confused (duh and not uncommon) after reading way too many posts on this topic... Anyone know when the VTEC is supposed to kick in for the AP2? mine kicks in at 6500. I think I have seen discussions of them kicking at lower points.
95% of the time I am below 5.5k and chasing the RPMs all the way to 6.5 seems to be hard to do in the suburban/city driving I do. It would be handy and fun to have a little more punch a little lower in the RPM band. I know the "punch" would be less punchy, but it would be more than the low cam??
thoughts? knowledge?

mine is about 6000 .. +/- 200rpm
the cams are optimized for certain speed range, so even if you can set them to activate at a lower speed, it wont be as effective

remove the top lid from your air box so you can hear the vtec kick in.
Then confirm what rpm it is kicking in @. you should probably check in 2nd or 3rd gear.
(disclaimer: sound w/o box lid is nice, but you will loose hp when it gets hot out. so you should keep in on)

The ECU decides when to engage vtec based on a number of things, and the point will not be the same every time.
