Yes, you can plug any number you like into that calculator. Just select the type of car (AP1 or 2 by MY) and hit "GO".
Ok...I entered 4.56 as the axle ratio and the FD / transfer rate didn't change. Should it have?

i believe the axle ratio is the only number that should change if you are trying to figure out the speeds for the 4.56 gears. nothing else changes.

change 4.10 to 4.56.

top speed in the AP2 is aroung 154 and it is NOT drag limited. it is gear limited. the top speed in AP1 is around 170 something, but with drag it can only reach around 154.

would the top speed change or be a factor if you have a turbo or supercharged?

The 2ndary reduction ratio (or transfer as some call it) is static and built into the tranny. It will never change unless you physically go in there and put a new gear in. When you put in "4.56" into the "AXLE RATIO", you should see a complete different set of numbers come up. That gear calculator misnamed the 2ndary reduction ratio. By calling it "final drive or transfer ratio", it confuses the hell out of some people. If you try other cars, you will see that they do NOT have this 2ndary reduction.

It takes HP to overcome drag. Does this give you a hint?
Also, take into consideration the difference between AP1 and AP2. (another hint)

also the spreadsheet on page 1 is using a diff ratio of 4.38:1... unless they changed it for '06, we have a 4.10:1 diff...

xviper... whats the reasoning behind using a secondary reduction gear in a tranny in the 1st place? whats the purpose? its not "necessary" as seen on other car's... is it just one more thing to break?

I don't know for sure, only theories. I'll leave the real explanation to someone who knows what they're talking about. Slows2k?

to my knowledge, it had to do with either the length of the drive shaft since it is not carbon fiber, and some part of that may have had something to do with harmonics as well, and the rate at which the drive shaft spins.

I believe I read this somewhere on this forum quite some time ago....
