What is meant when people talk about glazing the clutch?
It's when you fry it and it gets stinky. You (usually) do this by holding it too much while applying gas at the same time.

Doesn't your clutch delay make it hard to launch?
Speaking of that delay valve...

I also have not tried launching it yet (7 months old), but when I run it to the top in first under WOT, and shift, I get absolutely no tire chirp... ever. Is that because of the delay valve...

the clutch slips either through improper launch technique, or because you physically slip it too much, and it gets heated to a point where the surface starts to "melt" or get gooey. after you stop slipping it, it cools down and causes the clutch surface area to be more slippery than optimal.

Before I took out my delay valve, no chirps either. As soon as I took it out, not only do I get a chirp on the 1-2 shift, my whole back end slides out!

hmm... I have an 05 with the delay valve still installed and I can slide out my rear end in 2nd. All I have to do is take off normally, shift into second, hold it at about 7500 rpm and dump the clutch. Although, it could be because i'm on my stock summer tires and its around 35 deg here... smiles galore My goal is to slide the rear end out in 3rd

Remove the Delay valve first as this adds some difficulty in accelerating smoothly. You will see your rpm's jump a little during shifts. But as others have said, there is not a magical number it's going to depend on conditions outside. The main point to remember is - break the tires loose. If you don't do this you will end up doing damage to your drivetrain. So dropping from 5500 and above is a pretty safe bet most of the time, but you just have to get used to your car in your area. Also, learning what to do after you launch is the tricky part. Dropping the clutch at high rpm's is easy, but controlling the gas input etc. to get optimal acceleration is the harder part.

well hes askin what is the ideal rpm to launch, u dont look outside and say its sunny so ill launch at this rpm or its cold outside ima launch at this rpm. No matter if its the tracks or on the street i let mine go at a bit higher then 6, and of course like what they said above (condition) will make u spin more or less. only time id change my launch is if the ground is wet (or rainin) lol.

Don't forget to consider the road surface. Newer asphalt or a sticky drag strip will require a more aggressive launch.
