AP2 Key Copy Price Check
Called my local Honda dealer about making a key copy for my 2004. They said $85 and 30min wait time. I had read a little about some people paying over $100-150 and also some people getting some copies made outside of the dealer for less. I had a transponder key made for my 1998 NSX at an ACE hardware before and it worked great. Think it was like $40-50. Is there such an alternative or is $85 pretty much the best I'm going to do? Thanks!

Damn, my local dealership wants almost $500 to cut and program a key. Needless to say i dont need another key that bad. Ive heard rumors about lowes and ace etc cutting keys. Do you then have to take the car to the dealer to get it programed? Or is it basicly heres my key, they make a copy, and your good to go? I have an '07 if that matters.

I went to the dealer this morning. $42.50 for programming. They said total would be around $85-90. Based on what I am seeing here that seems like a reasonable price. They did not have the key blank in stock, so I will have to return tomorrow. Waited 45min to find that out. I suppose the parts department could have said "the price is $85, but we will have to order the blank"...
