ap1 vs ap2

Default ap1 vs ap2

i am in the market to get a s2k. i was wondering what advantages, if any, are there between the ap1 and the ap2. does the f22 respond better to mods(dont plan on any boost most likely just bolt ons)?

i plan on upgrading the suspension so the smaller sway and lower spring rates should not come into effect with the ap2.

when i get the s2k, it will be my DD and then hopefully later on down the road ill be able to make it into a weekend warrior/track car.

sorry for the very nubish question. i have done some searching and havent found any thread that really helps me in my decision. i am leaning toward a 04-05 but just seeing if anyone can sway me to the 02-03

I think it all comes down to what you want. I wouldn't rush into getting your S2K. There are a lot of differences between the AP1 and AP2. 00-03' (AP1) 240hp/153ft lbs. 04-07' 237hp/162ft. lbs.
00-03 = 9000 Redline
04-07 = 8300 Redline

00-01' Platstic read window 02'-03 Glass rear window

etc. etc.......

I think it all comes down to what YOU want, we can't make the decision for you. If you keep researching more and more, you'll eventually know what you want out of the S2K. Just the smallest things made me decide what I wanted in MY03'. Like I said, don't rush into getting a S2000, and believe me you'll know when you find the right one. Good luck

thanks, i know i dont want a 00-01 due to the plastic rear window and the carpet center console. i also wont get a 06-07 due to the vsa and the dbw(also the higher price). i guess ill just have to drive them and see what i like

i am really debating on the f20 vs the f22.

The AP2s do make more peak HP as well, but the performance of the car itself in a straight line is identical for all intents and purposes. The record here (or it was) for a stock S2K was 13.6 in the quarter, set by a 2000 model.

The AP2 is going to be easier to live with as a daily driver and more forgiving to mistakes but it IS milder than the AP1. I still prefer the AP1, though.

If you go AP1, make sure you get a glass window. Some 00-01 cars have it fitted, but the 02-03 cars, IMO, are the better ones. They have a little more high end power and I think the way they handle is better. I've had an 01 for over a year as well as my current one so I know the differences.
