Default AP1 Gas Mileage 17.2

Hi guys, sorry if this has been beaten to death, but I searched all day and couldn't find the answer... I just bought my S a month ago and I seem to be getting 17.2 mpg mostly city and a little high way. Basically I have fill the tank every 180 miles...

I could have sworn I read somewhere on here about something I could check if I had poor gas mileage, but for the life of me couldn't find the link again... anyone know what it was to check or can help me with a link?

You could do the basic maintenance for your car. Spark plugs, air filter, oil, etc.

That is horrible gas mileage, I get ~20 now and I'm s/ced

One month?

How many tanks have you filled up? Seems like a pretty short/small test period unless you drive a lot.

Either way, 17.2 seems reasonable if you're driving mostly in the city, with the top down, and you have a heavy right foot. However, you may want to check the routine stuff just in case. Make sure your tires are inflated properly.

I averaged 17.5 MPG running for my first month of ownership. Some 5 years and 200+ fill ups later, I'm all the way up to 21.4 MPG.

YMMV.

After I got 2 straight tanks of ~18mpg, I quit caring / calculating.

17.2mpg is poor.
Driving style/habits have a huge effect on your gas mileage. I usually range between 20 and 23 with mixed city & hwy driving.
Drive conservatively for a couple tanks(no higher than 3k-3.5k rpm upshifts) and see how it goes.

Usually get around 23mpg...

I actually got 31mpg on a 300 mile trip last weekend....top up / AC on / average speed 55 - 60 mph. I drove like a weiner. Totally babied the car.
