AP1 to AP2 Suspension
#11
From watching BMI videos they mentioned that the AP1 has suspension geometry that reduces/prevents the car from squatting under heavy braking, this made the car sensitive to inexperienced drivers. The suspension arm on the AP1 is different from AP2. Also AP2 benefits from larger and wider rear tires. They also showed the AP1 vs the AP2 vs lightly tuned MCR AP1 S2000 with couple of suspension mods. The MCR S2000 was faster around the corners etc.
Bottom line, the cost of changing the AP1 suspension into AP2 is a waste of money. It would be much better to get better coilovers/shock/springs!

Struts, springs, sway bar, and tires.
The tires probably being the biggest help, as the s02's while fantastic in dry warm weather were hideous in the rain. They were also so stiff that they didn't make any noise even as you were sliding off into a ditch. A sqeal here and there is good sometimes

Thanks to cyclon. To the other guy...why do you even bother responding to a thread if all you have a a misplaced snide remark. You don't know my driving ability, you don't know that I've ever been in an accident, you don't know me. The suspension changes were made for a reason...they help keep the car out of ditches. But what does Honda know. I guess they just made the changes for the hell of it.
If anyone else has any info, without judgement, it would be appreciated.

Read your own post:
"I won't be tracking at all, so I would rather a softer suspension that lets me keep the car out of a ditch."
I've put 15,000 miles on my AP1 and its "let" me stay out of ditches until now. Guess I am pretty lucky, or MAYBE I just kow how to drive. Hmmm....

I have an AP1 and have never had a problem and love it! All S2's are very stable cars, but like any light weight RWD sports car you have to understand its limits. If you buy an AP1 you will be fine and most likly ditch free .

Thanks again to those that had some answers, as I thought softening the suspension a bit would ease the potential bite in normal driving.
I'm not even going to respond to everyone else because I don't get the point in slamming some anonymous poster on a message board for asking a harmless question. Hope you guys feel a little bigger now for saying I'm a horrible driver, the car will throw me into a ditch, buy a Volvo etc. What a helpful community your helping to create.
PS- Is it a coincidence the two idiots are both from Mt. Pleasant, SC?
