I want a Civic type r shift knob, since it has red numbering... looks very nice. it'll go well with my red-black interior.

I better search online. I wonder how much Honda dealer charges them for...?
I'm not sure if the FD2R knob will be found in the US parts database. I got mine from an eBay seller in Japan. It was cheaper than any US vendor I could find.

These look awesome! I basically have the same thing minus a shifting pattern on it. (Aftermarket not sure what brand) It's just brushed aluminum countersunk I'm pretty sure. Wish I had red lettering on it!!

For S2000, it was very easy to remove the shift knob. Just loosen the bolt! that is all...
What?!? You mean I didn't have to buy a CR!?!

How did you get the shift pattern to align without the nut? I have the same knob but don't remember it being able to align anywhere near straight AFTER the point where the lock nut would allow the knob to be straight at its lowest point (make sense?).

As an aside, I like the EP3 steering wheel (it's on my daily ) but the thickness is pretty noticeable between that and the S2000 one and I think it might be slightly larger in diameter. I prefer the S2000 wheel, just wish it had red stitching to match the interior.

As for what I think of the FD2 knob, I prefer the shape but wish it was slightly larger. I also wish it was heavier, somewhere around the stock knob weight would be nice. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with it, though.
Yeah, I did couple things... I used a die to carve the threads deep so that the pattern would match up and locked it in. Unfortunately, I went a little past and opted to do use the loc-tite method which works really well.

The EP3 steering wheel (along with the Insight and RSX) is all the same wheel... just different wrappings/covering. They are all interchangeable with no different in thickness or width. I've actually had the S2000 (AP1 + AP2), EP3, RSX and DC5-R steering wheel to take measurements to confirm...

I don't know what changed between the different years of S2000 steering wheels, then, because I own an EP3 and '08 S2000. I've driven in them back to back and the EP3 wheel does not feel as thick. I may be off about the diameter being different but I'm pretty sure about the thickness.

That's pretty interesting... maybe take a measurement and let us know.

The FD2-R knob won't be available at a US dealership.

Just buy a CR one and use red paint on the numerals.

cheapest FD2-R knobs i found were at ebay for around $50-$60.

I think its too much of a hassle to paint the CR knob numbering from yellow to red. Durability of the red paint is at issue too. So, spending extra $10 to $15 is i think worth it.
