The guys on the Audi boards are raving about this stuff, most notably the S4 guys are finding significantly better gas mileage (the S4's are reputed gas hogs).

I would be very sceptical of claims of improved gas mileage esp. if they are claiming that RP is way better than Mobil One or Redline. When it comes to mileage, there are too many factors involved and it is too easy to bias the results in favor of helping to justify your purchase of what is, after all, very expensive motor oil.

Is it better? I don't know.
Is it enough better in the real world to make a noticeable difference? I doubt it.

Still, couldn't hurt. (if money is no object)

Royal Purple is good stuff.
I have not used it because Redline gave me oil. But I know some racers who do use it and they like it.
But if I am buying it I would choose Redline because its always worked for me.
I use Mobil 1 in the Honda and that may change.

I know people who swear by the rp stuff. I've used in in my Yamahha fzr-600 and it seemed great. Many of the drag racers I deal with use it exclusivly, as well as many boat owners.

If I decide to go with a synthetic I'll go with rp

When I had my clutch replaced on my 944, the mechanic replaced my tranny oil with regular synthetic. It was so noisy, I took it back and comlained. He replaced it with Royal Purple. Now it's quiet and the shift is smoother. I like the stuff.

not bad or good just posted it cos RP does not put oil weights on their oil (the last time i checked anyway)

ANyway - the thinner the oil, you MAY get better performance, but you WILL need to change your oil more often

Not quite true....unless you mean on the can itself. I just ordered from their website and you specify the weight you want. They've got 5/30, 10/30, 10/40, 15/40, and 20/50. Take your pick! Website also has a "search for retail outlet" (by city/state).
