Default Anyone out there with exhaust tickets, please reply.

Since I'm thinking of possibly purchasing a spoon exhaust, just curious how many of you S owners out there were misfortunate enough to get an exhaust ticket. Also, what exhaust were you running and how did you handle the ticket? Some tickets are simply fix-it where you have to put the stock exhaust back on (pain in the ass) and get the ticket signed off by a highway patrol officer. Others I beleive count against your driving record.

Well, I did get an exhaust ticket on my Type R after gettting an initial fix it ticket about a week earlier. If I'm not mistaken, there is about a month leadway until you actually have to get the ticket signed off and fixed. It was during this time that I got another ticket. I explained to the cop that I already had a fix-it ticket, but he proceeded to give me another ticket--this time it wasn't fix-it. I would have taken care of the initial fix-it ticket earlier, but I had swapped my stock for a proto-type Tanabe. Won't ever do that again.

but i wonder will the booming of spoon at low rpm and moderate aceleration will get people in trouble?

I have the Spoon exhaust and last year I got a fix it ticket for it. I put on the silencer and took it to CHP and the car passed, no points against my record.

ran the spoon exhaust for a couple months. Never ever got pulled over for the exhaust, and I never used the silencer.

[30sec after recovering from violent laughter]

1) the spoon is barely louder (if even) than stock
2) a spoon cat-back is one of the more affordable systems

actually, i think only HKS makes a louder exhaust; maybe one or two others, but spoon is still noe of the loudest.
and spoons tend to be rather pricey. i mean, they are spoon!
