Default anyone near Palmerston North, New Zealand???

A very close Kiwi friend of mine just moved back to NZ after being in the US for 8 years. I was her "car guy" while she was here....and she never really needed to worry about car things, becuase I just took care of it for her (I like that kind of stuff) and she rewarded me with yummy food. Now that she is back home, she is lost as to where to start looking for a car. Are there any real car enthusiasts in her area who might be willing to assist her in the car search? She wants a used Honda, but I think thats all she really knows at this point.....something inexpensive, yet reliable....doesn't have to be fancy. While she was here, she drove a 1985 Accord with 370000 km on the odo, and that was perfectly fine for her because it was reliable. Just PM me if you think you can help or know of someone who can help. I would love to fly over and help her myself, but thats not so practical for me right now. My hope is that some nice S2000 enthuisast, like myself, might be able to help.

Thanks - Rodney

You might have better luck posting in the Australia (https://www.s2ki.com/forums/forumdisplay.ph...p?s=&forumid=30) forum, if you haven't already.

I looked for a NZ forum, but didn't see one. I wasn't sure if the Australia would get any NZ visitors, but I guess you are right. I will post there too...thanks. Also - after I posted this in S2000 talk, I wasn't sure if it was an appropriate post, but I think this one will get the most readers.

The Aus section is a good place. I know of at least one kiwi that used to post there. Fair enough as whenever they produce a decent band or actor we claim them as Australian. Crowded House, Russell Crowe etc.

Cars are cheap in NZ and nobody worries about them that much. People don't buy private as the cars are plenty cheap at the dealer range and you get the 1-2 year warranty in most cases.

Especially around $NZ5000 - $10000 price range, there are heaps of cars to choose from with very low kilometres - although I wouldn't really trust those. If she wants a bargain tell her to take a mechanic down to turner's car auctions.

Then again she's in Palmerston North, so I have no idea if they have different auctions, etc.
