Default Anyone here have the Honda OEM XM radio in their S???

Ok, so my two day old S is in the shop for some body work. Long story shrt, about a week before I went to buy my S some jerks went up to the local Honda Dealership one night and slashed the tops of my S and a black one up there. At first the dealer didn't think there was any body damage, but upon closer inspection the jerk who slashed the top, also ran the razor along the car in places... So the dealer informed me of the paint damge the day we picked it up (Saturday) and agreed to take it to the local body shop to get it fixed up.

So, this brings me to my point, I have a loaner Accord, fully decked out, leather, the works!!! Theat would include the XM radio. I have not ever experianced this, but OMG, it is AWESOME!!! I would like to get it for the S when I have money again someday. I have read that the radio is already set up for it, and the antena just needs to be installed. Has anyone else gotten it? Is it awesome?

Thanks in advanced.

no, the 04 is not really XM ready.

you have to replace the radio with Honda's XM deck, buy THEIR antenna, and probably THEIR tuner as well. Bottom line: $500+ and the same crappy stereo, just with XM.

yer better off getting a $150 unit with a FM modulator that you can use in the car or house. Or, buy a better XM/sirius ready deck along with a separate tuner and antenna. both options are cheaper.

According to page 88 of the manual it looks like it does have the ability to have XM radio....

Your Honda is capable of receiving XM Satellite Radio anywhere in the US, except Hawaii and Alaska.

It shows the stock S2K head unit and then explains how to use it. It has to work, I hope!

You don't replace the OEM radio. You do have to add a XM receiver and antenna, as well as addtional wiring. The antenna mounts though the trunk, drilling is involved.

the 04 is is pre-wired for x/m all you need is the x-m receiver and an antenna -

you do not neet a different head unit and you do not need any additional wires

i just installed the factory x-m unit last week and it's awesome. net net it will cost you around $360 for the set-up

At list price with dealer installation, you're looking at about a thousand dollars for all the pieces to get XM working. Bass, where did you get all your components for such a good price? Did you install it yourself?

Niki, I would get an aftermarket XM ready deck if I were you...cheaper and sounds better.

bought all the oem stuff from Jeff aka hardtopguy as he always has the best prices for oem stuff

x/m with mounting bracket was $283.00 and i purchased the mirco trek antenna for $50.00 (issue with the plugs but easy fix) - install was very very easy (less than 40 minutes because it's pre-wired)

btw i question the folks that say you need a new head unit. i decided to keep my factory head unit because i like the looks of it - Twized and G-s2k added two amps, line level converters, spods and better frt speakers and my stereo sounds awesome (no need to go to this extreame)..
