in england we have higher octane fuels the standard is 95 octane... we can get a premiums at 97 octane and shell produce a fuel in conjuction with ferrari , this is known as optimax and is a very clean burning 98 octane fuel.... needless to say s2k's here are only fed shell's optimax- however we have to pay over 5dollars a gallon for even the cheapest fuel.. so s.california u ve got nothing to complain about.. u still pay less than us in the uk

I always use Sunoco 94 octane in the S. I only use 93 oct from Mobil when there is no Sunoco around, and I really need gas. Can't comment on the more power thing as 94 oct is the norm for me.

Basically, gas is gas. Get the correct octane for your car and you'll be fine.
I had a Honda service writer try to convince me that it was BP gas that threw a check engine light on my Accord. Once I explained that I had filled up with Mobil fuel not two days beforehand and insisted he pull the damn code from the computer instead of just taking wild assed guesses, he found that my catalytic converter was failing. So you can imagine my reluctance to trust his advice that BP fuel is just no good for Hondas.
I swear these dealers get kickbacks for pushing one brand of fuel over all others. Anyway, I've used many different brands in my 1998 Integra LS, my 1998 Accord LX, and my 2002 S2000 and have had no fuel related problems that I know of...
