Default Anyone else have this hole in the top?

My car is about 2 months old. I found this hole in the top on the driver's side, at the bottom of the seam just back from the window. I'm not sure if it's anything to be concerned about, but the passenger side does not have this hole. It looks like the hole was caused by the seam splitting at the bottom. You can actually look through the hole and see a thin metal rod underneath.

Does anyone else have this? Is it normal?

I just checked my top (also an 05). I have something similar to your top at the exact same location. However, where the seam with the metal rod underneath ends, mine is slightly more tapered than yours. I then took a flashlight in the dimly lit garage and examined the "hole". It seems to be part of the soft top drainage system, but then again, I am not a Honda tech or soft top expert by any means. There also exists a "hole" on the passenger side as well. My passenger side is slightly more tapered at that location in comparison the the driver's side.

There is no evidence of water in the interior at all. I wash my car 2 or 3 times each week and any water inside the cabin would be evident as I clean the interior following the wash. If this concerns you, take it to Honda and see what is what.

I sure do, weather permitting of course. I am big on having a "clean" car and since I put on about 500 miles each week, the dirt can build up. Besides, washing the car is rather therapeutic, particularly when my sig. other gets into the act. (see my sig).

I don't have the same hole you have in your picture, but I do have a small tear that developed from rubbing against the top frame support that goes right there. If you reach inside and feel the metal edge that goes against the vinyl, you will feel a sharp edge there. Over time, it has managed to slice a hole in the top.

Anytime you cut metal with a stamping process, one edge will be smooth, while the other will be sharp. They never bothered to take the edge off. Mine is an 01 also.

Had the famous wear hole on my 00. Honda paid for the top, I paid for the labor. It is a definite flaw caused by the top rubbing on the plastic guide inside. I wrote letters and complained that Honda should have covered the entire replacement to no avail. My upholstery shop who does custom work said it is a design issue and couldnt believe Honda wouldnt cover it. After top was replaced my shop removed the plastic guide and reinforced the canvas in the area it was rubbing. Extended warranty is worthless!!!!!!!!!!
