If you get the 350Z base or enthusiast model, it doesn't have the VDC, so no worries about not being able to turn off the traction control. You'll need to replace the viscous diff w/ a 2way clutch-type tho. Why not just get a 240sx for drift?...even cheaper.

I'm interested in drifting the S2k as well, after moving up to the S from an SR20DET powered S13..... I believe that with alignment, coilovers, and changing the final drive gear, the S is driftable.. of course I'm talking about drifting on a drift course rather than drifting for show on a J turn going 70mph.
I'm still searching for the best coilover to use that will best control the S going sideways and looking into options for the rear diff too, as far as perhaps gear, reinforced housing, etc.

Yes you can drift the S2000. Some of the members here says its hard, but from my experiences I disagree, I think the car is very responsive to your inputs. So basicailly if you turn and gas properly you can power over and hang the rear. The only drifts I've attmpted in my S are when I'm taking turns at an intersection or driving around in a parking lot. In this perspective, yes you can drift the S2000. Low mpg drifts are fun and safe. As far as drifting like what the D1 pros are doing, thats too dangerous for me to try right now.

the same year 350Z same miles etc is less then a compairable s2000. However a 2000 s2000 is cheaper than a newer Z. I'd listen to these guys about the Z as a better drifter. I can drift my s2000 for about 1/2 sec then it catchesbut thats all the drifting I want to do =)

okay...basically..what everyone is saying is true..
but i would have to agree s2kbreaker...i do the same thing..ive even hit a curb (not in my s2k)
you can drift an s2k..but make sure you keep it in second...if you leave it in first you'l red line til your out of the turn...ive come to learn that when you take the turn...make sure that your at a good speed..and at a low rpm in second...your wheels wont whip out from behind you and your power is still at around 5-6 grand when your out of the turn...just remember though..the reason why you want to keep on the gas:
NO GAS...YOU CRASH!!

yeah i think i've made up my mind, i don't think an s2000 is right for me, i love the looks and the fact that it's a honda and if i could convice my wife to let me have an s2000 and my 240sx than i would get an s2000 in a second but that's not gonna happen i think i'm just gonna wait till after the holidays then trade my scion in for a big 4 door truck and then keep my eyes open for a good deal on a g35 coupe or 350z
