When I had my CL, a few guys on the forums were into changing their HID bulbs to Philips 6000k color temp bulbs. Some even went with a 8000k. Has anyone changes their color temp of their HIDs? Also pics would be sweet.

Thanks,
Dave

Stock HID is somewhere around 4100k to 4300k
which by the way puts out best output.

As the temperature signature moves into higher numbers, the light color becomes more bluish/purple, however, you loose most of usuable light output by doing so.

8000k HID bulb will put out significantly less light output than 4100k. Philips Ultinon bulb,6000k, should put out as much if not more than 4100 or 4300k bulbs.

But why bother? spending extra money just for the light color makes that much difference to you? Projector already makes our stock HID bulb looks alot more unique than many other HIDs out there.

Why bother?

I was thinking in the event of replacement, cant be much more. I just do like the look of them right when you turn them on at night before the heat up.
Also I am aware that the 4600k range is a lot more useable light to the human eye. I heard 8k looks like Barney-mobile. I bet is is such a pain in the ass to change anyway. It was such a bitch to clear.

omg please do not change your bulbs. Have you ever seen those nasty retrofit HIDs that are pure bluish or pure pinkish that blind the crap out of you because they are using d2s instead of d2r bulbs inside a reflector housing? Well, you'll avoid the blinding b/c s2k's have projectors, but your lights will be that same nasty color.

that's true.. I agree. Just trying to shed some light on the subject in case he didn't really know what he was getting himself into. My brother got a pair of 8000k bulbs and about a week after using them, sold them to some other sucker for the same price he paid, luckily. He said it was much harder to see with those than the 4100k. After using that, he couldn't imagine why he ever changed. You can check out www.hidforum.com and see what they have to say.. those guys are HID nutz. But still, even some ppl on there like the higher temp bulbs.
