Default Anybody Thought About Buying S2k in Canada and import to US?

With the extremely USD friendly exchange rate and the abundance of s2k in concentrated markets (Vancouver, Toronto), has anyone explored this option? I can see dealers selling for not much more than their invoice price?
Any possible complications?

From what I heard, the warranty is voided.

Yeah, I thought about it. MSRP on the s2k in Canada is about $30,800. Because of the new NAFTA policies it is perfectly legal to purchase a car from Canada, and in fact, is supposed to be no different than buying one here in the US. However, a recent flock of people crossing the border to purchase vehicles has caused Honda (along with GM and Ford) to implement policies to discourage it. Honda is probably the worst offender because as the previous poster indicated, they are not honoring the warranty. May still be an option worth considering though if you can get a Canadian dealer to come of the the MSRP a couple of thousand but not sure I would do it, I was able to get one in Chicago for 30k and no warranty hassle. Good Luck

Wouldn't the tax kill you just as bad as buying it in the US? from what I was told by my dealer you can always buy third party warranty when importing a car.

This is one case where Canada has it a little better.

Case in point I believe an Acura MDX MSRP is only USD $30,000 up here in Canada.

I believe the Odyssey is cheaper too.

And yes, you will lose your factory warranty.

BAhh, quit complaining. The S is $43,000 down here in PR. A G35 with w/ premium and sport package...$48k. Oh, an last week I took my A4 to the audi-porsche dealer and bothered a salesman with the "how much for that GT2" question. $280,000.

We (us citizens) cannot purchase new cars from Canada. However, you are free to buy any used car you wish and dealers will gladly sell them to you. I know since I visit their often. However, I do not know if the PST, GST (canada taxes) apply to us since we registering the car in the US.

Can anybody confirm?
