drove a 2001 car, then drove a new 2003 little more than around the block...then sat in the 2004 and bought it, drove it outta the showroom and to get gas and back...good choice, i knew i wanted it.

I had never even sat in ANY S2K before I took delivery of my MY03 3 months ago. I had already signed on the dotted line before it came in. I figured that any car that can beat the Boxster, TT, Z4, 350Z and SLK in two different magazines 4 model years after its introduction, has to be good!!! Sort of like waiting until you get married until you have sex!!

bought mine without ever seeing or driving it-
it was the second one i waited for (3 months). lost the first one cause i didnt return the call to the dealer at night!
i saw one on the road and read a lot about the car before buying it- relied on what others thought and the fact that its a honda!

After shopping online for a few months and talking to lots of dealers up and down Calif, I bought mine over the phone without ever having driven one. But that was after LOTS of research. I knew exactly what I was getting into. AND I roadtested the one I bought before signing the sales contract. (Did not VTEC on that outing.) I'd owned 3 (new) CRX SI's by that point, and was getting flamed on a regular basis on Honda boards for qualifying my love for CRX by saying "wouldn't it REALLY be great if Honda built a CRX-like car with RWD..." I knew about the S2000's relatively puny torque, that it's best suited for the track and that it's a stripper compared to, for example, the BMW Z cars. (I still wish I could have deleted the AC.) I could easily have afforded the Boxter S but wanted to stick with Honda. I'm SO glad I did. I think the S2000 is the epitome of 20th century 2 liter sports car design and I suspect Honda went into the project with that goal in mind.

I did!! I wasnt even expecting to buy the car. I went in on a Friday night and I never even test drove the car. I signed all the papers and gave them cash then I left. I didnt even pick up the car until the following week!! All the sales guys were like WHAT If I were u I would take it home now!! They were more excited then me.. lol

Yup. A phone call to a dealer in Rochester NY, a couple of e-mails, two or three more phone calls to negotiate the price. My beautiful Silverstone/Red is in my driveway about a week later. All without ever having driven one! I have no regrets.
