I've been to Taipei a couple of times on business.
Haven't noticed too many Hondas, but the roads are filled with scooters... You'll see what I mean.

Also, if you get a chance, go to a club called "ZigaZaga" (at least that was the name of it two years ago) located in Grand Hyatt hotel. Filled with pretty girls... You'll see what I mean.

high performance sports cars are not popular in taiwan. the only high performance cars commonly seen are porsches. i dont think s2000 are even imported because of the small market. i go back regularly and the only sports cars i have seen are porsches and rarely american muscle cars. i have yet to see a single japanese sports car.

according to my dad, only 8 S2000s were sold in Taiwan. they cost approx. 2-3 times what we pay for here.

there's an old joke about mercedes in Taiwan: you take the series number (say S500), and add 1 million Taiwan Dollar behind the 500 and that's your typical S500 price. BTW, this was when exchange rate was around 30 NTD to 1 USD. now your dollar stretches a bit more, i think around 35 to 1.

have fun!

Wow, the NT is that low in value? I remember back in the 80's when it was 38-39/usd, but recent years weer always in the 30 range. have not been back for years, maybe time to go again soon...to take advantage of the exchange rate

4igs2000, if you can read traditional Chinese, go to Google.com and search for S2000/S2k in the tw.bbs.rec.car group. You will see lots of mentions of S2000 in there (along with Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes, etc.). So my guess is that there are sufficient number of S2000 so that people see them on the streets all the time -- but maybe only outside of the city?

You may even be able to contact some of those people in Taiwan before you go there.

from www.autonet.com.tw, 25 S2000 were imported, and all were ordered prior to reaching the shore.

Honda considered migrating some of its technology to the plants in Taiwan as CR-V, Accords, Civics, and City are built there, and guess what, the importer (Sang Yon) actually said "nah, we dont need it" .... bunch of morons.
