Speaking of airbags, in 06+ cars, is the "OFF" light illuminated for you guys when nothing is in the seat? Mine is off and comes ON when my wife sits there. With an adult in that seat, I would imagine the light should be OFF and the airbag activated. Can anyone confirm this?

How much does your wife weigh? If she's around the weight limit for the sensor it could be going on/off over bumps and the like. If she's not close to the 80lbs limit (that's what I think it is) you might have a failing sensor. When you sit in the seat does the same thing happen? It should be off empty and on with an adult.

I don't see why the "kit" would have to be elaborate ~ it's simply a disconect for the passenger airbag. You could theoretically just un-plug it. But then it's the dealership!

Going to test fit the Recaro seat in both the 05 and 09 in our garage to see if any differences. I never paid attention to the airbag light.

I posted this more out of curiosity since I'm pretty sure wife won't her sit in the s2000 till she gets to at least 6 years/60lbs which is what is recommended. Odd how the views differ so much from each person. I know when I grew up, my brother and I was running around the family station wagon while we were cruising down the highway. There were no baby seats back then for sure and we lived. Rules nowadays can be read so many ways it's mind boggling.

Volvo's which are known for safety have some odd wording in their owner's manual regarding front child occupants too since they allow it and I heard even recommend the airbag be left on? strange!

totally agree!!!

I saw one earlier post that said that Honda quoted 3 hours labor to install the kit----seems it should be able to be done in less than an hour!

I remember driving to Florida with my parents when I was young, and I would lie down in the rear seat much like you would lie on a couch, no seatbelts, nothing. Those were very different days back then.

I've never seen the Honda parts, but I think it allows you to turn the air bag on and off at will. Not sure but for the money they charge it should switchable. I've heard of guys doing this but I've never seen it in person.

It's just a kill switch with a key installed is my understanding

Well deaths from accidents are on the decline so some of these rules work

You don't. You only have the shoulder belt to work with, and the only way to properly secure a baby with a shoulder belt is to use a locking clip. IMO, it'd be more trouble than it's worth in the S. Plus, if you cinch a car seat down that tightly, you'd stretch the heck out of the leather.

I waited until my kids were old enough to be a booster seat without the five-point harness. I throw the booster seat in, they hop in and buckle up. The hardest part is finding a booster that fits well in the S's seat.

^Too cute! I love what he says about the lights...haha ~ how old is he now?

Your son looks older so I don't see the problem there, my son just turned 18 months so we don't let him try but he seems to prefer boats and motorcycles right now....haha

He looks big (90th percentile) but in this pic he's barely 18 months on our boat:

This is one of the SAFEST baby seats out there on the market right now, however with it's unique steel latch setup I don't think it will fit in the s2000. I'm going to try the Recaro and Radian seats this weekend. We own like 5-6 baby seats so one of them has to fit the s2000 and I plan to build a custom rear tether anchor using a custom eye-bolt attached to the roll-bar bolts which should be PLENTY strong, stay tuned. For now this is the only seat my son gets to ride in while my daughter will get the upgrade soon:
