Man, how crappy can some people be to remove something like that off of a car instead of buying it themselves?

Anyway, found this in the FAQ section: "Meguires Bug & Tar RemoverTM works well for removing that stuff [glue and tar], so does WD-40."

A few people have removed their S2000 emblems from the sides to give it a cleaner look so I think someone with experience should be ableto chime in soon.

Hope no paint damage was done.

I have heard WD40 works well.
Acetone would work well but use it very sparingly.

Stick with the WD40. Sorry Andy, don't mean to contradict you but I've worked with Acetone a lot and it can be very dangerous stuff around cars. "Sparingly" can mean different things to different people. I'd just stay away from it unless nothing else works for what your trying to do. The area where the "S2000" emblems reside is quite a high profile, very visible part of the car. I'd hate to see a "mishap" here. Cheers, bud.

Oh man, that sucks!

When I put the black chrome badges on my car, I removed the old goo with a combination of WD-40, this citrus-based solvent called Xenit, Goo Gone and a lot of patience and elbow grease...it was a real PITA, but persistence pays off.

Sorry that happened...just be glad they didn't scratch any other part of your car!

Thanks all,

It looks like I can make/use a cocktail of the WD40, Xenit, and Goo Gone that I already have. Fortunately, they did a pretty good job of removing the emblems without damaging the paint, just one little nick on each side though I didn't have the heart to look at it long enough to see how deep it went.

DaveZ, I'm pretty sure this was done by some kids in the neighborhood. This is the third act of vandalism against cars out in front of my house in the past couple of years (antenna and valve stem caps stolen off a Z3 and emblems stolen off a turbo civic.). All petty stuff, but annoying nonetheless. Fortunately, my night-vision camera from X10 arrived in the mail today, so with any luck there will be one last minor petty act and I can put a stop to this.

OUCH! sorry to hear this. Man, time to invest in a garage! just kidding,
but seriously, goo gone works well in removing the badge adhesive. If there are small marks from whatever they pryed it off with, you can always repositoijn the replacement badges to cover. good luck.

Clark, you can take some satisfaction in the fact that unless they were really careful, there's little chance that they were able to get the badges off in one piece. The connection points between the 0's are pretty thin, so hopefully they took their booty home in more than a couple of pieces...the little bastages!!!

I'm curious how you will like your X10 cam...let's talk about that at the next VOTA meeting...
