Any former Miata owners...why did you switch to an S2K?
I love the S2K and have a renewed interest in it. I currently own a '92 Sunburst Yellow Miata. I really have no intention of selling, but would love to park an S2K next to it. Doing so would force me to sell our '59 Austin Healey Bugeyed Sprite (which I drove a total of 30 miles this year ).
So tell me...why did you switch (or suplement )?

I currently have an 2001 Miata LS with $3500.00 in extras/upgrades (for sale). I bought the MY02 S2000 mostly for the 90 hp the miata lacks.I have had the S2K for a little over 2 months and prefer the sharper edge performance it delivers.
The S2K is like the energizer bunny. It just keeps going & going!!!Good luck.

I love those vintage roadsters. In your situation, I might spend the money to concours out the '59 Austin Healey Bugeyed Sprite. For how much would you sell the Sprite?
I have a 1990 Red Miata, but much prefer to drive the S2000 for its greater precision of handling and power, and thus fun.
I might trade you a 1991 BRG Limited Edition Miata (3500 mi) if your Bugeye is stock, cherry, etc.!

My Sprite is simply a great driver...nothing fancy, but looks good and runs great. It's a $7-8K car.
As far as the Miata comment...whelp...what can I say, if you wanna attract chicks...you gotta drive a car the chicks like.
Seriously though...I bought the Miata to support the Bugeye. It is one of the greatest cars I've ever owned. The only downfall? It lacks power. I know, I know, I could add a turbo or supercharger...but I don't really have the desire. I like my go fast goodies from the factory. Thus, that is why I am interested in the S2K (and due to the fact that I have had numerous Acuras/Hondas in the past...and have family that work for Honda...I am fairly loyal)
Thanks for the info so far. Please keep it coming.

Beautiful Bugeye. I have owned about 4 of them over the years. A friend with one replaced the engine with a Datsun 1100 or 1200cc and did away with all the British engineering problems, like leaky carbs.
Last time at the track, a Miata owner rode with me in my S2K. His first ride in one. I think he owns one now!

My sister had a 1990 base package Mariner Blue Miata for nearly 12 years and 170,000 + trouble free miles. I was lucky enough to frequently drive this little joy and its the car that got the roadster bug into my blood.
I owned a 1996 popular equipment Miata for a while but gave it to my sister (she finally sold the 1990) when I bought my first S.
Why didn't I stay with the Miata or buy another one? Really there's a few reasons.
1) Mazda no longer offers a "R" package car. That was the only Miata that ever really, really did it for me. Nothing on the car that didn't help it corner better.
2) The power of the S.
3) The tranny of the S. Yes, the Miata is very, very good but believe you me, the S is even better.
4) The rigidity of the chassis and crispness of the car.
Are there things that the Miata has or does better? Yes. Emphatically yes. The Miata is more affordable. The Miata runs on regular. The Miata has limits which are much easier to explore and doesn't "bite" as hard as the Honda does. The Miata has an absolute butt load of highly developed and reputable aftermarket parts for it.At the end of hte day, I'm still happier with my S and wouldn't go back.

I leased a new Miata back in 1997, it was a third vehicle shared by my wife and myself. I loved the Miata but always wanted a tad more power. When the S2000 came along, I knew I'd be essentially getting what I had with the Miata plus an additional 100 hp. Plus a substantially stiffer chassis. The S2000 is my daily driver except for winter months. P.S. I also owned a Bug-Eye back in 1970.
