Any 315hp bmw M coupe & S2k owners out there?

Just picked up a new 2001 M Coupe in steel gray. It's for my wife. I'm still in love my black 2002 S2000, though. Wouldn't trade it for the M Coupe. Very different feel. We test drove all sorts of sports cars and rather than have two S2000s, bought the M Coupe for its power, uniqueness, and bad-ass ugly look (which my wife loves and why she married me) . The M Coupe is crazy fast, handles very well (but differently from the S2K), and exudes attitude.
We also noticed that the more cars we test drove, the more we loved our S2K. It's built extremely well with a fit, finish, and purity unlike any other car. The connectedness the driver feels with the S2K cannot be found elsewhere in any car remotely near its price.
We were surprised by a couple things: remote entry not included (gotta use those keys to get into the car), no cup holders (I think you can ask for them, they show up as a no-cost option on bmw.com), sweet sound system, lots of plastic in the interior.
I'll post a pic of our two cars parked in tandem later. We just got home with it tonight... and we're about to go take it for a spin! See ya!

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for the M Coupe? I am thinking of getting on in the next few days, so it'd be a lot of help.
BTW, the steel gray is by far the most beautiful color BMW offers for the M Coupe, hope you got the Imola red two-tone interior to go w/ it.

Here's my two cents on this topic... I copied and pasted it from another post: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...9959#post449959
Both are excellent machines...
Power: The M3 has an edge here. Granted, the S2000 is fast, very fast. But nothing beats the 333 hp and 262 lbs/ft in torque the new M3 produces. On the other hand, nothing beats the feeling when the VTEC kicks in and you rev all the way to 9000 rpm's in the S2000. Quite a rush!!!
Handling: Excellent handling on both cars. Very tight and responsive. The feeling between both is a bit different, although its hard to put it into words. The S2000, despite it being a convertible, feels as solid as any sports coupe with a roof in the market. The S2000 feels like a go-cart on steroids while the M3 is a very responsive and tight car.
Exterior: Great. Both very agressive looking. The M3 just embodies attitude.
Interior: Great layouts. Very driver oriented. The M3 has a lot of features (nav system and other gizmos and gadgets) that the S2000 doesn't have. Also the sound system is far superior. Nevertheless, I love the S2000's simplicity. Only complaint is the use of a lot of plastics, but then again, 911's have lots of plastic these days too.
Fit and Finish: By far, the best cars I've ever owned in terms of finish.
Overall, its hard to say which car is better. I love open air fun the S2000 provides. I love the raw power the M3 outputs. If I had to choose one, I would simply flip a coin...
I got mine for MSRP at South Motors BMW in Miami. Good luck fangfang.

I gotta say that Honda and BMW are my favorite car manufacturers and it's pretty damn hard between them...But for the price, I'd get the S2000 just because it's within my price range, then I'd super or turbo charge it.

that's the ticket, dood
i've driven the new M3 conv extensively.....its undeniably impressive, but a miss.
but my S/C s2k really takes it. once u drop the dime on the blower.....no car can touch it in terms of pure
unadultered automotive nirvahna. The power in my car is essentially equal to new M3, but its delivery...the redline, the sound, the gearbox....is just so way better. i even drove a 911, a '99 300hp one, i know the new 320hp one
would be better....but its still a big "miss". why can't porshe get a grip, put the engine in front, you friggin' morons.
Almost all car companies are nitwits, the recipe is so simple.......TVR has got it, naturally not readily available in states: put a stonking torqey motor up front in a light sexy roadster.....duh!!!!!
the Sti WRX will be special...looking forward to it. Z06 is awesome if u can deal with bloated size(although its light) and goldchain image. blah, blah, blah
