I know it's hard to believe, but its true. With my car (and my maintenance schedules), there is no difference in the PPM rate of the typical wear metals (aluminum, chromium, iron, copper, etc.) for dino or synthetic. This is true even comparing winter to summer, (very) spirited driving vs. highway miles, etc.

TBN - Total Base Number. This is a measure of the amount of "life" left in the oil (additives remaining compared to a base stock).
