Default Another S2000 with stolen seats

Well...

Another one bites the dust. As I came back from NY, I found my car with the top slashed and before I even looked into the car, I knew those *2@@#$%^& came for my seats. They also took my shift knob which was stock, so I don't know what they wanted with that either. At least the rest of the car wasn't damaged.

I took it to the Honda dealer just in case they came back and decided to steal some more stuff out of there. The most frustrating part is that my car was parked in a secure garage where you can only get in and out with a keycard. Security was not up to it and I'm going to raise hell over there when I get back home.

The dealer quoted me 11 grand to fix the car, which is not that much less than my asessed kbb trade in value for a 2002 with 39,000 miles, which I meticulously maintain and drive. I was planning on selling the car next year but the insurance company may force me to total it. I guess it depends on what they give me for the car. If that happens, I'm probably just going to sell it to avoid any more unwanted attention and it will be my last convertible. I will certainly miss this car immensely. It more than filled a void I had when I sold my 93 MR2 Turbo.

$11,000 KBB for an 02 with low miles? Good luck finding one for that. I think the insurance company will use replacement cost not wholesale value.

Seats locks, insomnia, and an ar-15 work for me. Sorry about what happened. Keep an eye out for the seats in your area.

so how does a top, seats and shift knob cost 11,000 dollars? Mugen Top-3200, crazy seats, about the same.. if you buy a 5000 dollar shift knob then I guess it's possible.

labor on the top to take it off then replace and put back in takes a lot of hours. thats what a dealer told me anyways.

Thats ****ing gay that a car can be "totaled" just because some stuff was stolen.

Hopefully it doesn't get totaled. Try to get your insurance company to cut you a check, and do the labor yourself. Like people said, get a hardtop (OEM ~2800), some bucket seats (I don't know... ~$1500?), and a Voodoo shift knob ($160 for spun titanium, $45 for the rest) and you're set. You might even be able to come out on top. Best of luck to you.
