Well my car got takin to the body shop i do alot of work for and i know there the best in town.
The owner, who i am good friends with, said that it looks like about 12,000 in damage to fix it all, unless he replaces the rear sub frame
He said with my low mileage and awsome condition it would take around 20,000 to write my car off...

Take the opportunity! My car is basically painted corner to corner from the idiots who damaged my car on 2 occasions last year.

Suspension, wheel, fender, etc are all EASILY replacable.
Why do some people assume a broken A-arm is going to get their car totalled?
The only way to even TRY to get it totalled is when there is frame damage and even THEN, there are machines that will make your frame more straight then it came from the factory. Plus, to a point, the metal will be even STRONGER now that its bent (and eventually straighten back out) then it was prior to the damage. Take a look at an engineering stress strain diagram for more info behind that.

Sorry to hear about what happened, but I have to ask, how fast were you going after a stop sign to loose control that bad?
I'm just trying to picture it in my head and can't wrap my thoughts around it.

I was going 32km/hr from a stop sign onto a 70km/hr when i started spinning, so dont you start sayin i dont know how to drive cuz i have drivin rwd vehicles all my life, threw all conditions and know how to handle them... the main reason it all happened was the wrong tires for this time of yr, the tires were rock hard and the road was cold, even the cop agreed with me, the same cop that i race with... so he knows i can handle the car...
They ripped my car apart today and the only thing really wrong is the lower knuckle broke and it wrecked the passanger side half shaft, other than the body work. But i talked to the guy that would be doing the repairs and its basicly gettin a completely new suspension system on that side even though it would past w/o it... he knows how picky i am
Tomorrow i get the repair quote, and ill see if i can get a pic from my brother or the chick that i hit when she took pics

Good luck, but they're going to make the decision based on the cost of the repair and the replacement value of the car. The fact that you don't want it back doesn't matter one bit to them.
Glad you aren't hurt.
It's totally up to the insurance company whether it's a total loss or not.
It actually takes a lot to have a vehicle totalled.
My older car was in an accident and the insurance company was going to fix the whole thing until they found the motor was cracked.
As you can see it needed bodywork on ALL body panels (hood, bumpers, fenders, doors, mirrors, rear quarter panels, rear hatch, even the roof ) and front airbags, suspension, undercarriage, radiator, windshield.
You might as well hope to get it fixed properly.
It's hard to tell without looking at the pics, but I don't think they're going to total yours.
Good luck
Dan
