Default Annoying horn "Chirp"

Whenever I double click my key remote to arm the stock alarm system, the horn "chirps". It annoys me to no end. Besides, I don't like advertising to my neighbors that "I'm home now!"
Is there any way to disable this noisy, rude, and unnecessary horn blast?
Thanks,
Dennis

I turned off the chirp.

I've got the dealer installed alarm. There's a button sequence to do this, but I don't remember it. I can get it tonight if you need it.

Why are you double clicking the remote? The horn beep is just to notify you that you already have the security system active.

Uh...don't double-click the remote

I call it the "schmuck alarm" - as in "hey, schmuck...you already locked me!"

I find the horn honk a tad annoying as well. I would much rather have a proper alarm "chirp," like a fine German sedan, than the over-use of the actual horn. Does anyone know how feasible it would be to redirect the horn "chirp" to a real alarm noise maker?

I've been bothered by the same sound as well.
I'd be glad to know if there is a way to disable or tone down the sound.

Funny thing is that sometimes the alarm goes completely silent when I arm and disarm the alarm. I'm not sure if I'm pushing the button in a way I'm not aware of.

Read above... You only have to hit the lock once, the horn only sounds if you hit it twice.

I personally like the horn sounding the second time, after walking away I sometimes forget if I locked the car, so the horn is a good reminder.

Dave - Can you get us that sequence? I turned my off, or at least it's no longer chirping, and I'd like to have it on.

Thanks!

ok, i think its time to remind a few folks to read the manual on the OEM remote locking and alarm system. As stated above, the alarm( or door lock) will activate upon pressing the appropriate buttion once. If you press it twice, the alarm brain unit will "chirp" the horn to confirm that in fact you ahve armed the alarm and/or locked the door, but the alarm is armed, or door is locked after the first press.

And in case anyone idd not know, pressing the "unlock" button once opens the driver door, twice opens the passenger door too.

There are ways to disengage the alarm chirp on the alarm, but you'll have to get that from someone who already did it, or check the "Under the Hood" forum fo any other sources.
